Fond Memories

Since the day Aarush has started speaking there have been a lot of comments, questions, answers which are worth capturing and make you smile once you remember them.

Time does fade good memories as well!

Starting this post and hoping to add to it as and when I remember ....

Aarush used to love eating his bites with "billi" (Cat) . He had to eat his bite before the billi comes and grabs it......

The typical sentence being...""biiliiiii aaaaja, aarush ki bite kha jaa"".

This worked for few weeks, one day on repeating the same sentence comes his prompt reply " Nani aaj aap billi ko aane do, and mera khana use khila do "  and he grew out of this "BIlli" phase.

On our trip to Jaisalmer, Aarush was introduced to Neerav's colleague "Siddhartha". Almost after a month, we went on a  trip to HK, where we saw a small animation on Lord Budha and his life.

In the movie, there was a sequence where "Siddhartha" rode the horse and left the town.
After watching the movie, we asked Aarush did he enjoy it, he said " Ya, and I saw Siddharth uncle, voh ghode par baith kar kahin jaa rahe the".

On the same trip, Aarush met Vardaan, our friend's son, for the first time on this trip. Being in Hongkong, Vardaan spoke very good english and little hindi and it was quite opposite with Aarush.

All of us worked as translators for both of them. One of the best moments was seeing both of them performing " Bamboo Dance".

When we were expecting our second baby, we asked Aarush would he like to have a baby girl or a baby boy, he always wanted a baby boy to make pairs like "Krishna Balram" or " Ram Laxman", his all time favourite characters.

One day he asked me " Mom why cant you be sure whether we will get a baby boy or a girl" I told him " Aarush, this is something which God has decided".

He replied back, " Mom don't worry, on Janmasthmi,  I will become Lord Krishna and hence God and then I will send a baby boy for us :)"

While deciding the names  of our second bay, we were exploring a few options, Aarush's choice was always based on the named of the car, if a baby boy the name was to be "Punto" and if girl "Leenu"

Aarush you made us proud!

Its been almost an year since I wrote anything...Nothing motivated me, the words didnt come...

Finally, the happeings of today morning pushed me to write so that time doesn't make these memories dull

Aarush has been going to a play group since he has been two which was long way back in Jan'09

Past 9 months have been a roller coaster ride for us, starting from handling his aversion to school, his temper tantrums, getting complaints that he has hit someone ....
Finally in July, he got a bit adjusted, started making friends, showing some excitement and most importantly started to talk about the school with us.

His teachers told me even though he is very active in the class but is very adamant on not participating in any individual activity.
I was disappointed and used to get very agitated at times over this... but slowly I realized, its futile to be over pushy.....

Then came the notice that there will be "Fancy Dress Competition" in his school on 8th October, I asked him what he wants to be, and he said "HUMPTY DUMPTY" .
Hence began the preparations for it.I knew it in my mind and heart that he will not go on stage, but I wanted to do my bit and be hopeful.

Till today morning Aarush was pretty excited about the event but as the time came near, he started having cold feet and get pretty edgy. Before he left for school, I told him" If you will perform today as humpty dumpty, you will make me very happy"

We reached there at 10 and the function started, after about 3-4 kids Aarush's name was announced and then there was no activity for sometime, I was keeping my fingers crossed but soonafter some other kid came on the stage. We were sad but then we knew this is going to happen.
Then all of a sudden, We saw Aarush on stage, dressed up as "Humpty Dumpty " and saying on the mic " I am humpty Dumpty" exactly the way I had taught him!!!!!!
His voice was tremoring, his face was red but he had never looked more adorable and sounded more sweet to me!
And then he started receiting his favourite poem
"Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall, had a great fall ................................."

Nothing can ever beat the pride and sense of achievement I felt in my son.
It was a major step for Aarush and how much he would have over come, how much courage he would have gathered to step on the stage !!

Aarush : "Three cheers for you, we love you"
You have really made your parents proud and happy today...
Way to go............

Aarush the musician

Since being a baby, Aarush loves different kinds of sounds...and his love for this hasnt dimmed now that he is almost two.
One day he wanted to listen to some music or song on the music system.. as there was no electricity at that time due to power cut, we were unable to play that.

Aarush though we are bluffing and dont want to play music for him,he came up with the idea of playing the music himself.... and his instruments were the "music system's speaker"

Starting play group for Aarush

After a long battle with myself, I finally gave into my hubby's wishes and decided to search for a play school for Aarush.
We saw a couple of those, met the staff, questioned the teacher but could not still make the decision to send him. The thought of him being with the strangers, not only to him but to us too, did something strange to me...

Then one day, my mom told me that we can try sending Aarush to a nearby play group which her friend runs..
Today, we went and met the principal, saw the school. It wasn't very big or those extra modern 5 star hotel kinds..But it had a homely feel to it. The staff was experienced.
The factor that the principal was known to my mom did make a lot of difference...

And so it was decided that Aarush will start going there initially for 1-2 hours....

I felt the pain, the anxiety which every parent must have gone through for searching a play school, because we all want the best for our kids!!!

Cheers to us all!
